Overall it was a joyous occasion. Close to 50 children participated and they were all smiles through the event. They all came showered and neatly dressed. And everyone took pride in wearing the Indian flag. Flag hoisting was done by the community leader (elder) after a prayer song and followed by the National Anthem. The Mukhya(elder) addressed the kids and asked to them show commitment to school in order to avoid being stone breakers when they grow. Very pleasing to hear such encouraging words from one of their own. The event closed off with prize distribution followed by sweets to the kids.

We dispersed with the thought of conducting a health camp for the kids
in the coming 2 weeks followed by periodic visits by doctors.

The Samyuktha Team members celebrated Republic Day with the children in the SMILE schools. The children were told about the meaning and significance of the Republic Day, followed by flag hoisting, a few games and prize distribution. The participation from the children was very heart-warming. Everyone walked away with a smile on the lips for a job well done and SMILE in their hearts for the things that need to be done further.
